Principal/Software Java/Kotlin Engineer (AI Tax project)

The Sole Proprietor Development Department, part of the Money Forward Business Segment, is dedicated to empowering individual workers by developing innovative solutions that simplify and enhance their professional lives. 

Our mission, "Moving work and life forward for individual workers" drives us to create products that address the unique challenges faced by sole proprietors. 

Our flagship offerings include Cloud Tax Return, a cloud-based tax filing solution that seamlessly integrates with the Money Forward ME personal finance app, providing users with a comprehensive view of their financial health. Additionally, Cloud Business Registration streamlines the business registration process, while Cloud Company Registration facilitates company establishment with ease. We recently launched Money Forward AI Tax Return, a service that aims to empower sole proprietors who are less familiar with tax and regulations to complete their tax returns by harnessing the power of AI.

All these products are designed to reduce administrative burdens, enhance efficiency, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, allowing sole proprietors to focus on their core business activities and achieve greater success. 

We are currently building new cutting-edge solutions to empower individual workers and would like to welcome a new Full-Stack Engineer to help us build these systems.

Responsibilities

• Cooperate with the teams in Japan/Vietnam to design, develop, and maintain scalable and robust full-stack applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
• Identify and correct performance bottlenecks and resolve bugs.
• Help maintain code quality, organization, and automation.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain high standards of code quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Over 3 years of experience in web application development and operations using Kotlin 
• Experience of front-end web frameworks such as React, Next.js
• Knowledge of SQL and experience using Persistence libraries
• Knowledge and experience in developing with pub-sub or message queue systems
• Flexibility and adaptability to work with diverse technology stacks, with motivation to learn new technologies but also willing to take the time to understand legacy codebases
• Experience working in Agile and/or Scrum teams
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Experience using AI in development operations and/or developed products

Nice-to-have

• Experience with Spring WebFlux
• Experience with other languages such as Go or Ruby
• Experience delivering products to end-users, with a strong focus on what and how to deliver real value
• Experience setting up AI-workflows and usage of AI in all parts of the SDLC
